WHO
ARE
WE?
Co-Founders (from L to R): RJ Cecott, Ashley Greenwood & Tim Kough
in Oil Lamp Theater's production of Now and Then [2022].
While performing in a production of Sean Grennan's Now and Then at Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview, IL, the question was brought up by Tim Kough to the rest of his small cast:
"What are the chances of us working together again?"
Our chemistry was electric. We brought to the stage each night the pride of being Chicago actors; the love of the theatre, camaraderie and love as we all played for each other, and weeks of support as we slowly became a family, both on and off the stage. We knew we needed to do it again, but when would that opportunity come around for us to all be in the same room again, finding that same spark we found for seven weeks in Glenview?
Hours of backstage chatter, ideas, "what if's" and a cast group chat brought to life the idea of ACE -- a company that not only fulfilled the hope of all working together again, but a want to bring more stories of the people of Chicago, to Chicago.
We want these stories to better depict the diversity of Chicago, along with the grit and rawness of the city. We hope to be a gathering place for community, creativity, hope, and healing. We hope to be a beacon of light and inclusivity. We need voices and truth, and that is what we strive to be. We aim to make our audiences feel something, and call our community into action -- to think, create, fight for equality, compassion, truth, and to live authentically.
